Sorry but the date in the previous message is wrong. The awards night is Dec. 10 and NOT THE 3rd. Don't know what I was thinking.

11/26/2008 05:14 PM - Carl Walls
A pot luck has been suggested for the awards night event. A great idea, so just bring something to share if you would like or just come and share what is brought.
See your email regarding final standings and some awards nite race ideas.
Hope to see you there, Wed Dec. 3, 2008 Anaheim location starting around 6:30pm with racing and awards to follow.

Awards Night Shootout Race Date and Place:
K1 has let us use the Anaheim track for our awards night and shootout race location. Irvine was getting booked with holiday events so hopefully this will work out.
The date is Dec 10 (Wed) and the usual time of 6:30 sign-ins. Racing will not be for points so the normal two qualifiers will be practice sessions. If there are any guest drivers their times will be used to position them after the league drivers.
Main race lineups will be by year-end driver points standings. The B main will feature a transfer position to the A main for the winner. They will start at the rear of the A main race.
There will be some prizes and fun things along with the awards and trophies for the fall mini series and the year long championship series.
I would also like to use that time to discuss issues that shoule be addressed for next year.
Hope to see you there!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. May the turkeys be on the plates and not on the tracks!

Race Report Nov. 13, 2008
CIRKL Race 10 (final league)
We had 19 competitive drivers with times being close for many of the drivers.
Qualifications were a lot of fun with some good karts and some bad karts. Its bad enought to get one bad kart but I feel sorry for those that got bad ones for all three events (maybe a good day to buy a lotto ticket).
The rolling starts seemed to work very well, thanks everyone for making those starts better. They do seem to work well to keep a lot of the accidents down on the first few turns.
The racing seemed very clean and aggressive to me. In the B manin I was braking harder and caught Daniel Rice off guard who tapped my back side and put me in a spin. He got spun later and I was able to get by him only to have him pass me again (cleanly). Of course I was on my way to making a big come back charge to the front only to have the roll bar come loose causing much distraction for me. By the time I figured out that the seat belt was fasten and not loose there were only a couple of laps left and the charge pooped out (ok so the charge was a bit over stated but the roll bar did provide a good excuse).
Ryan Horn pulled out a great win with some excellant driving to keep Toby Rodriquez and Robert Dlugos in their places as they raced hard to take advantage of any mistake that Ryan might make. Of course he did not make any and prevailed at the end.
Taylor Hayes and John Tanaka were making hard charges at the end but a little to late to improve their finishes.
RESULTS:

I would like to give a special thanks to David Messimer who donated a sheet of CIRKL stickers, that he designed, for every driver. See me at the awards race in Dec. if you would like one. They look great!
OTHER RACING: See the Drivers blog for the report on the Irvine GP held on Nov. 9th. I saw a few names from the Carlsbad GP racing crowd in the results on K1s web site. They have some good drivers down south and I encourage everyone to give their GP a shot some time. It is a fun track.
CONGRADULATIONS TO ROB LOGAN:
Rob sent this email to me which I will pass along here for all to see.
"I won't be able to make the final race tonight. I hope you guys have a good one.
As an FYI, I won the World Karting Association West Coast Nationals event in TAG Senior Heavy last weekend at Adams Kart Track in Riverside. I had a thrilling dual with Ty Matta, who won the 2008 IKF national title in Formula Yamaha Masters.
Here's a link to the video of the race if you'd like to take a look...
http://vimeo.com/2149938
The first 80% of the video is just me leading, as I led the first 20 laps of the 25 lap main. If you fast forward to about 5 to go you will see me get passed in a hairpin and that's when the drama starts.
Take care,
Rob"
Way to go Rob!
That's it for now. I hope to have the final results ready by this weekend for everyones review.

Here are the results from the CARLSBAD GP Sun Nov. 2, 2008
There were 5 CIRKL drivers with 3 taking the top 3 spots. Good job drivers!
"A" Race
1 John Tanaka 28.75
2 Paul Ciralli 29.17
3 Alfredo Anguiano 29.33
4 Matt Merrill 29.07
5 Tony Rindsberg 29.50
6 Bill Groves 28.73
7 Taylor Hays 29.11
8 Brad Harvey 29.61
Paul Ciralli pulled a fast one on the last lap of his qualifier and was fastest for that session with a 29.04, John T. and Alfredo A. tied with their times .
As always, some outstanding driving by John T. lead to another win for him. Paul C. could not catch him and Alfredo did a great job holding off a very hard chagring Matt Merrill on the last laps to hold onto 3rd by about 7/8 of a kart. Taylor H. started 7th and ended 7th after being in spme heated exchanges with the drivers around him.
"B" Race
1 Julio Rodela 29.53
2 Stephen Robertson 29.63
3 The Dutchman 30.26
4 Jon Putek 29.65
5 Scott Whitehead 29.57
6 Jordan Robertson 29.60
7 Carl Walls 30.00
8 Ingram Ober 30.11
9 Robert Elliott 30.56
I managed to start in 9th (17th) but passed two drivers after they had contact and stayed there.
This is a fun race track with speed and wide areas to some passing or use different race lines.
Give it a run sometime, I think you'll like it.
NEXT GP is IRVINE on Sunday Nov. 9th with sign in starting at 9:45am (a new time).
There should be some of the drivers from Carlsbad at this event.

Here are the results from the Anaheim Reverse GP on Wed 10-29-08
"A" Race Driver Fast Lap League
1 Robert Dlugos 33.45 CIRKL
2 Paul Ciralli 33.30 CIRKL
3 Alton Arnold III 33.31 CIRKL
4 Taylor Hays 33.39 CIRKL
5 Riccardo Falconeri 33.36
6 DAVID MESSIMER 33.60 CIRKL
7 Mike Rebello 33.50
8 CHRIS SCHOONOVER 34.06
Notice that 2nd thru 5th were only 0.09 sec. apart! And the racing was very close for the entire race.
"B" Race
1 Alfredo Anguiano 33.60 CIRKL
2 Michael Arnold 33.76 CIRKL
3 Kurt White 34.11
4 Julio Rodela 34.05
5 Carl Walls 34.49 CIRKL
6 Ralph Byrne 34.95
7 Matthew LeCrone 34.76
This race was close between 2nd on back for a while but when Michael Arnold passed Kurt White we all kind of ended up spreading out.
Still a fun race!
As you can see league drivers did very well
Qualifactions were as follows:
1 Robert Dlugos 32.85
2 Paul Ciralli 33.14
3 Alton Arnold III 33.33
3 Riccardo Falconeri 33.40
4 Taylor Hays 33.54
5 Mike Rebello 33.64
6 CHRIS SCHOONOVER 33.80
7 DAVID MESSIMER 33.84
8 Alfredo Anguiano 33.88
9 Kurt White 33.99
10 Michael Arnold 34.07
11 Julio Rodela 34.18
12 Carl Walls 34.42
13 Matthew LeCrone 34.66
14 Ralph Byrne 34.83
Robert D. pulled a very good lap with about a 2 sec spread for the entire field.
It was a fun race but I wish they would take the best of two qualifiers instead of a practice and then qualifications.
It sure helps the bad kart issue.
While I personally helped to hold up the bottom end of the night I was proud of being able to improve my performance with each session.
Now its on to Carlsbad then the assualt on the final CIRKL race on Nov. 12 Anaheim Reverse.
Check the DRIVERS BLOG link for info on the Carlsbad race and carpooling.
See you racing!

Here's a couple of race reports from this last week:
ONTARIO K1 GP Race Sunday 10/26
This was a fun race with a light turn-out of 20 drivers. CIRKL was well represented with the following drivers and their finish positions
"A" Race
1 John Tanaka
2 Taylor Hays
5 Paul Ciralli
7 Michael Arnold
8 patt kuykendall
10 Alton Arnold III
"B" Race
11 DAVID MESSIMER (1st in group)
14 Emilio Garcia III
15 Shane Geivet
18 Carl Walls
That evening I drove out to Corona to watch some of the CIRKL drivers take on the Pole Position Tracks GP race. Well they did there best but that kid in first is going to be tuff to beat. They had 9 drivers which means they are growing a little each week.
Here are the CIRKL drivers results:
2 John Tanaka
3 Taylor Hays
5 Paul Ciralli
6 Dave Messimer
All-in-all there was a lot of good racing on Sunday. The "kid" at PPR is around 12 yrs old and even with his helmet on does not hardly sit higher than the steering wheel. So light he chatters around the corners. All the drivers seemed very nice and the racing was competitive. They slow all the karts when there is a spin out which is different than I was use to seeing.
Don't forget, this Wed is the Anaheim GP reverse direction race which would be good practice for our Nov. 12 final race.
Good racing to all!

2 John Tanaka
3 Taylor Hays
4 Edward Bergenholtz
5 Robert Dlugos
6 ryan horn
7 Alton Arnold III
Great job everyone!
Dont forget next race is Nov. 12 Anaheim Track 2 Reverse
Practice by joining in on the K1 Survivor race Wed Oct 29 which will be in the reverse direction also.
Have fun!

ace 9:
Sorry for the late report but things have been hectic around the house lately.
I will be emailing the results out later (since I haven't heard any complaints I will take them for goo).
This race on Track 2 Reverse was a lot of fun with some vary close competition with only 0.83 secs difference between the fastest to the slowest lap of all 3 main races.
The difference in average lap times was on 1.26 sec.
Here is a chart showing the distance traveled at various speeds
MPH Ft./Min Ft./Sec Ft./.10sec In/.01sec
60 5280 88.00 8.80 10.56
30 2640 44.00 4.40 5.28
25 2200 36.67 3.67 4.40
20 1760 29.33 2.93 3.52
I estimate the karts do about 25 to 30 mph so the distance on the fastest lap between all drivers was only 36.5 feet not bad.
The "C" Main had the team Loose Lug Nuts taking the top 3 spots. I looks like adding Kirk Meese to the father-son dual of Mike and Daniel Rice was a good move. Since I finished 4th I was hoping there would be some team conflicts that would let me sneak by but that was not to be. Everyone raced clean and close. Toby Robles and Mike Soto were there at my back door as well. The first 5 of us were only seperated by 0.03 secs on the average lap speed. I managed the second fastest lap of that race with a 23.17 but Kirk beat us all with a 23.08.
The B Main was another close race with great battles all over the place.1st to 7th were only 0.41 sec apart on average lap times. 0.43 sec difference in fast lap times.
Finishing order for the B Main
Paul Ciralli
Shane Geivet
Alfredo Anguiano
Michael Arnold
Patty Kuykendall
Faisal Qaisi (guest driver)
Emilio Garcia III (that was his 297th race)
The A Main was just as exciting to watch with close battles around the track. Great sportsmanship was shown by the whole field after a racing incident. Thanks to all for working together to resolve the issue. What can you say about the great battle for first with Toby Rodriguez and John Tanaka ending up with identical fast laps of 22.59 and identical race average laps of 22.84. The difference in fastest lap times for this race was 0.44 secs and the difference in average race lap times was 0nly 0.62 secs.
The rolling starts seemed to work well dispite not getting it understood by the track staff how we would have liked the start to be. The staff did a great job and as everyone refines the format the racing should get better.
I have some drivers that prefer the standing start, some that would like the standing start but not staggered and some that like the rolling start.
Maybe next season we use different starting formats for different races to give everyone a chance with the method they like.
Emails are appreciated regarding suggestions and recommendations for next year.
Next race NOV. 12 Anaheim Track 2 reverse TENTATIVE (still trying to see if the Torrence/Gardena track will be available by then).
Since scoring for the league wil not be completed until after the final race. An awards ceremony is being planned. Let me know which of the following dates works for you and the most popular will win. I have trophies for the fall season team champs being donated by K1, Certificates for the fall season drivers championship along with cash or prizes, I have purchased trophies for both the team and driver 2008 year long champions. If anyone would like to donate some prizes or funds for prizes or food that would be great. If we get enough we could have some pizza for that night.
I am trying to see of K1 would give us a reduced price for a race that night if we bring a new toy for the toys-for-tots group.
Nothing final but here are some dates I have available. Mon-Wed-Fri work best for me. Any time in Nov or first couple weeks of Dec. I will need to check with the track for availablitly. Also I will need to know if Irvine or Anaheim works best for a location.
Thanks Everyone!
Carl

Here is the results from the Carlsbad GP. Congrad's to John T., Paul C. and Riccardo F. who represented the Irvine-Anaheim drivers well.
Everyone should give this track a run. Its very nicely laid out with plenty of room for racing.
I enjoyed my race and my only claim is that 1. I did not finish last and 2. I improved my speed in each race.
1 John Tanaka
2 Paul Ciralli

Race 8 Review:
Read "Drivers Blog" for first part of race 8 report.
I did enjoy the racing and the event went will since there were no other parties going on.
The A main was won by John T., followed by Toby Rod. then Robert D. The B main was a good race also and was won by Chris V, the David M and 3rd was Ed B.
We only had 19 drivers but everyone raced their hearts out. Good competition as well.
We tried and liked the rolling start for the main events. As mentioned in the other blog, we still need to get it down with all the drivers on what they should do and when so that we get even starts.
Only 2 races left in the season so they should be good ones as well. Oct brings us back to Irvine to race track 2 in reverser direction. Should be even for everyone. In November we have Anaheim scheduled but it is hoped that the new Torrence track will be available for that event.
Many thanks to David Messimer for the gifts he provided again for the race. He works for the promotions department of Kawasaki and brings the fun little prizes that help to make our race events more fun. David is on the road hauling the Kawaski show to Texas and N. Carolina so we will not have the treats for the Oct race.
For next year hear are a few ideas I am tossing around for the league.
Have two divisions:
Class Pro and Sport
"Pro" drivers no weight restriction
"Sport" drivers 196 lbs and above and/or rookie drivers (4 or less CIRKL races).
Sport division drivers may choose to run in Pro division but Pro division drivers may not run in Sport division.
This is an attempt to promote new drivers as well as provide an area where the more mature figured driver may choose to run.
Season champions (1st, 2nd, & 3rd) from Sport division would be required to run in Pro division the following year.
2009 Season:
10 races with best 8 of 10 races run counting for championship.
I am considering eliminating the mini-series races to reduce the cost for trophies and awards. The alternative would be to raise league fess from to about $20 per season.
Points System:
In order to keep the racing a little tighter I am considering reducing the points to 1 point for qualification finishes last to 11th place then increasing 1 point per position to first place.
Race would be 5 pts for last to 16th, 6 for 15th, 7 for 14th, 8 for 13th, 9 for 12th and 10 for 11th. Positions 10th thru 1 st would increase 2 pts per position.
Qualifications:
Two 7 lap qualifications
Race:
16 lap Rolling single file start.
Teams:
Maximum of 3 drivers per team (substitutes possible on race by race basis, sub drivers must pay league fee).
Minimum of 2 drivers must race same night for team points to be scored.
All 10 races considered for team championship (no dropped race for teams).
All other rules seem to be ok and will remain. No changes will be made without input from all current drivers.
IRVINE GP 9/14/08 Report:
CIRKL Drivers were in good attendance at the last Irvine combined track event.
A Main
1st Toby Rod.
2nd John T.
3rd Paul C.
4th Alton Arnold III
5th Alfredo Anguiano
6th David Messimer
10th Robert Dlugos
B Main:
2nd Taylor H.
4th Michael Arnold
5th Emilio Garcia III
7th Patty Kuykendall
C Main:
1st Carl W (Yea, Yahoo, Yipee....ok its my first 1st place, I have to brag a little
12 CIRKL drivers out of 29 racers! Great showing everyone.
See you at the track!

Race #7 Report:
Well last nights race could be called Hot August Nights or The Good, The Bad and The Ugly depending on your point of view (pov). It was Hot racing speeds, tempatures and tempers during the event. There was some great driving and some very questionable driving.
We had 23 racers for the event and I think most of the tracks top times of the week so far were captured by CIRKL drivers. Way to go gang! I was only about 0.15 off my best time on track 2 but still ended up 21st. Dang! I don't know where everyone gets their speed but they sure brought it last night.
Agressive driving issues are still a major concern for me and last night had its shares. I dont want this league to become a disappointment for newer and exisiting drivers so have decided that enough is enough.
I will send warning messages to those drivers I felt were a overly agressive or appearing to be unable to calm their emotions. If I have to send a second warning after the next race I will start deducting driver points. If a trhird warning is needed then the driver will be suspended from any further league races.
I want everyone to be responsible for their actions and admit any wrong doing to the others invovled in any incidents that occur. I appreciate the honesty displayed by the drivers in the C main last lap incident and will not issue a warning for that at this time. Driver must resolve issue with other drivers and I will listen to both sides but it must be at the same time.
I am unaware of any issues in the B main but saw quite a few in the A main. Drivers will be issued a warning based on what I saw. While it was exciting to watch and the race for the top positions was excellant, the back of the back seemed to have issues with very aggressive driving. A bump or two is good notice to a slower driver that a faster driver is behind and consideration should be given to allowing a pass (not mandatory). Spining a driver out is not a valid pass! Running drivers into the wall is not a pass! Slowing to block other drivers is not allowed and will result in a warning! Slowing or stopping to get pay-back is not allowed and will result in a warning!
Begin competitive does not mean that we have to be aggressive at the cost of pushing others out of the way. If a pass cannot be made cleanly then don't force it. We all make bad calls sometimes and if we do then we need to own up to it and appoligize for it, not take it out on everyone else.
Lets be competitive, have fun and enjoy the racing. Accidents happen but everyone knows when they are being too agressive. Own up to! Take responsibility.
One of the issues to review for next year, if there will be a next year league, is having a means to process protests and complaints. I cannot do everything and appreciate those that are helpinig and have offered to help. It seems we need to have a review committe now to handle driving issues as they come up. I would like 3 people to be on the committe to help be the eyes and ears of the league.
K1 has been very good to us, and we do bring them a consistent amount of business. CIRKL is the ONLY private on-going league that K1 has allowed and it certainly has a top-class list of drivers. Let's not ruin our chances to continue with the league into the future and expand our format by getting a bad image.
Thanks for reading this and congrads to all the drivers for giving there all. We just need to hold some of it back a little.
SCORING:
I will be on vacation for the next two weeks but hope to get results out before leaving.
