Hey guys,
As I talked to a few of you yesterday, there have been talks that with Dromo 1 closing down that CalSpeed Karting will pick up where they left off with their GP series.
I know many of you have been out to CalSpeed, and many of you wanted to go back, there are plans currently in motion of having an arrive-and-drive, non-team series being set up.
Right now, there are ideas of having two separate series, being run back-to-back on the same day. Any driver could run one or the other, or both. Here's what it's looking like right now.
CalSpeed Grand Prix Series: $95 Entry
5 Minute Qualifying
10 Minute Heat 1
10 Minute Heat 2 **added a second heat race**
15 Minute Main
CalSpeed Ironman Series: $150 Entry
15 Minute Formula 1 Style "Knockout" Qualifying
45 Minute Formula 1 Style Race w/ Pit Stop
SUPER SERIES COMBO PRICE: $195
(thats 100 of track time minutes for $195)

A T T E N T I O N :
Format for the Monday May 10, 4 on the Ontario K1 SuperTrack: (per driver)
2 qualification sessions, each 7 laps
1 main race
Racing Groups depend on number of drivers attending:
For up to 15 drivers there will be two groups of qualifers (8 and 7) with only one main race for all 15 drivers.
For 16 to 30 drivers there will be 3 groups of qualifiers (min of 5, 5 and 6) with two main races (min. 10 for A main and 6 for B main)
Track is configured on Mondays for the supertrack layout so go early and practice.
Guest drivers always welcome.

Matt's report:
That was a blast! Quite a few things have changed since the 2008 races I attended, but the reverse direction and rolling start were fun.
It was a big turnout and everybody at K1 was working hard to put on a good event. They succeeded and I'm sure next race will be even bigger. I think the best racing might have been in the B main, seemed like they had several close battles.
Qualifying was ok for me and I ended up 3rd in the A main. I was able to make a pass on the first lap and Kirk got through as well. I stayed with the lead car for a bit but my cart wouldn't turn very well and Kirk was all over me. He raced me very clean but I didn't make any mistakes and was able to hold on to 2nd place. All in all I think I did OK my first race back after missing all of the 2009 season in Afghanistan.

Thanks for the great report Matt!
I hope it encourages others to post their reports as well. Many questions arise about being able to access this site. I am not the web master but have been told that all that is needed is your K1 Speed Name and Password (what ever gets you to your score charts).
If you have problems or what to add a report but cant get access just send me an email and I will pass it along and/or post your message.
This site is intended for CIRKL drivers but guests are welcome. Guest drivers Track Records and other stats may not appear if they are not entered into the CIRKL series.

Here's a report on the first round of the Dromo 1 GP season.
Our own David Messimer held fastest lap of the night in the heat races to take his first ever #1 spot for the A main race.
After struggling at the beginning he was able to hold on to 3rd place for his first podium finish in that event. Way to go David.
Fromer CIRKL driver and now a track stewart, Taylor Hays managed to get 4th position.

Just checked some of the track record updates and it looks like Robert D. has been busy getting the new scoring system at K1 to show up on this site. I notice that it does now show the 3 decimal places and also the kart number. Very nice. Thanks Robert.

I've been in S. Caroline the 9 days and have missed getting the results for the last couple of K1 GP's. If anyone has them please post.
April 10th is the next enduro at the gas outdoor CalSpeed Karting venue. I know there are a bunch of CIRKL drivers participating and I wish them good luck.
Next CIRKL race is IRVINE T1 normal direction on Wed April 14.
